Barbell Row Alternative Exercises For Back Pain | MY FAVORITE 4
As you bend over to grab that barbell off the ground, contemplating whether the pain you’ll be dealing with for the next 2 weeks is worth doing it, I want to let you in on a little secret…

Discover how I went from canceling my low back surgery and using exercise to heal my low back.
What Can I Substitute For Barbell Rows?
The best way to go about finding the best barbell row substitute is to understand how your body responds to different types of rows.
I can tell you 3 different exercises that are great barbell row substitutions, but only one of them fits your situation.
The best way to find the best substitution is to pick one exercise and experiment using different loads.
If you experience pain with lightweight, odds are there is something to do with that exercise that just doesn’t fit you.
If you can do it with significant amounts of weight but find that at a certain weight, the pain kicks in, it’s probably more of a pain threshold thing, and staying below that threshold with that specific exercise would be best for now.
The barbell row substitutions I demonstrate in today’s video are:
- Bench Supported Rows
- Single Arm Scoop Rows
- Gorilla Rows
- Meadow Row
